The History of Jeep
The History of Jeep dates back to the First World War times. It was during this particular period that the US Army was looking for a fast, light weight, all terrain utility vehicle. And it became more necessary as the war progressed. So the army called all the vehicle manufacturers and gave them a list of specifications and told them to manufacture such a vehicle within 49 days. However, only two companies responded to the call, and they were The Bantam Car Company and the Willys- Overland. Although initially the 49 day deadline was a problem, yet with outside help The Bantam Car Company finally did manage to build the first hand-built prototype within the timeframe. Later, after the testing was completed, the army testers came to the opinion that this vehicle was upto the mark and that it met all the requirements and specifications. Later, both Willys and Ford submitted prototypes based on the Bantam Plan. But it was Willys who finally got the army contract. Mainly due to two important reasons; firstly because the Willys "Quad" was more powerful when compared to Bantam and Ford. And secondly, the financial condition of Bantam was not very stable at that moment. But, since the US Army was in need of a hugh consignment of Jeeps at that point of time, Willys-Overhead granted the US Government a non-exclusive license to allow other manufacturers to manufacture vehicles with Willys specification.
Although no one knows for sure how the term "Jeep" came into being, yet different people have different versions of story about it. However, the most commonly known answer to this question is that the US Army had designated this particular vehicle as G.P (General Purpose vehicle), which later transformed into the term "Jeep". Since this Jeep vehicle played such an extraordinary and fascinating role during the World Wars that even today it is still one of the most recognized brands in the world. These vehicles were not only used by armies of different counties but at the same time these vehicles were also used for many other activities like, to lay telephone wires, makeshift ambulance, as conveyances for Prime Ministers and Army generals etc. Soon, afterwards, Willys realized the potential of the Jeep vehicle as a Civilian Carrier and so introduced the first ever civilian jeep in 1945. It was then used by the farmers and construction workers.
Since then, there has been no stop for the Jeep vehicle and even today there are new models which are being introduced in the market. Initially the Willys had obtained the Jeep trademark from the United States Trademark Registration. However, down the years this trademark had changed hands from Willys to Kaiser to American Motors Corporation to Chrysler Corporation, which is the recent owner of this trademark.
The History of Tractor:Tractors are mainly used for agricultural and constructional purposes. The agricultural industry was highly benefited with the introduction of Tractors. The first Tractors used internal combustion technology. They were stationary and sometimes wheels were added on to it, to make it mobile. However, it was due to the tractors that the agricultural industry has made such s huge leap towards better technology, which has increased production of food grains to such an extent. During the initial years of farming, the technological advancements were not much, but after Tractors came in place there was absolutely no stopping in that field.Initially, the Tractors were also run based on the concept of steam engine.
